Decker was adamant with the label to get greater control over her music following two previous singles failed. The album she released next, Boys in the Summer is more country-oriented. Decker's second studio album was released with the name Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury put it on hold and three of her country singles performed poorly. The album was later canceled.
